Our Story: Three Generations of Passion
We bring together tradition, quality, and style through hats and belts made for everyday living.
About Us
JC Hats & Belts is more than a business—it is the continuation of a family legacy that has evolved over three generations.
Our story begins with my grandfather in Los Angeles, California. He was a talented leather craftsman who specialized in creating handcrafted wallets and beautifully detailed, high-end leather purses. He believed that every piece leaving his hands should reflect exceptional craftsmanship. Quality was never negotiable. Every stitch, every cut, and every detail mattered. That commitment to excellence became the foundation of our family business.
After marrying my grandmother, they raised seven children. My mother quickly became known as a natural-born entrepreneur. Family and friends often tell stories about how, even though our family had very little, she always seemed to have money because she was constantly finding ways to earn it. She sold candy after school, helped my grandparents at open-air markets on the weekends, and was always looking for the next opportunity.
She has been one of the greatest inspirations in my life.
Growing up, my brother and I were involved in the family business for as long as I can remember. We helped purchase merchandise, set up booths, organize inventory, and assist customers at markets and events. My parents never believed that we were “too young” to contribute. Instead, they taught us an important lesson that still shapes our company today:
No matter how small your role may seem, everyone has something valuable to contribute.
When I got married, I honestly had no intention of continuing the family business.
I left California to join my husband in Utah. As someone who considered herself a true California girl—the sunshine, the beaches, and everything familiar—it was a huge leap of faith. I wasn’t even sure my parents would ever come visit because Utah felt so far away.
About a year later, my husband and I moved to a small town called Tremonton, Utah. The county fair was approaching, and on a whim I asked if they had any booth space available. I called my parents and invited them to come visit and help me run the booth.
None of us realized that simple decision would change the course of our lives.
The response was overwhelming.
People loved our hats. They loved our belts. They appreciated that they could purchase quality western products at prices they could actually afford. What started as a visit quickly became the beginning of something much bigger.
That single county fair became the foundation for what would eventually grow into JC Hats & Belts and JC Country.
Today, our company exists because we recognized a need within the western industry. Too often, quality western products are either unaffordable or difficult for everyday families to access. We believed customers deserved both exceptional quality and fair pricing.
That philosophy continues to guide every decision we make.
Many of the products we carry are personally designed by me and manufactured by talented artisans in Mexico. We work closely with manufacturers who share our commitment to craftsmanship, durability, and authenticity. We are intentional about the products we bring into our stores because we believe our customers deserve merchandise they can be proud to wear.
Although our business has grown from county fairs to retail stores and custom hat experiences, our mission has never changed.
We are still a family business.
We still believe in hard work.
We still believe every person has something valuable to contribute.
And above all, we believe quality, integrity, and genuine customer service will never go out of style.
Every customer who walks through our doors becomes part of our story, and we are honored to continue building a legacy that began more than three generations ago.
